Men's Golf unveils 2023 fall schedule

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team has announced its fall schedule to open the 2023-24 campaign according to head coach Hunter Chandley. (Schedule)

The Pioneers will play in four events this fall which will see the Black and Orange compete in three states.

Tusculum will open the season Sep. 25-26 as the compete the King Invitational in Bristol. The Pioneers are the defending champions of this event as TU posted a two-day score of 564 including a final round 277 (-3) to rally from a five-stroke deficit.

Tusculum will host the Bob Dibble Intercollegiate on Oct. 2-3 at Link Hills Country Club as the Pioneers' annual spring tournament moves to the fall and will be a 54-hole event for the first time in its 30-year history. TU has won their home tournament in three of the last four years and 12 times overall. Tusculum finished runner-up at last spring's Dibble Intercollegiate.

The Pioneers will travel to Gaffney, South Carolina on Oct. 9-10 for the Limestone Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at Cherokee National Golf Club. Tusculum will also send a team to Morristown for the Walters State Fall Classic on Oct. 9-10.

TU will close out the fall schedule on Oct. 23-24 as the Pioneers will compete at the Currahee Collegiate Invitational in Toccoa, Georgia. The 54-hole event will be hosted by Erskine College and held at the Currahee Club.

"Coming off of a fifth place finish at conference last year, we feel very confident we can compete at a high level and have a successful year, building off the success we had at the end of the spring," said Chandley. "We are super excited about the fall schedule and the challenges and memories it will bring."

Tusculum is still completing its 2024 spring slate and will culminate with the South Atlantic Conference Championship. This year's league tournament will be hosted by Newberry College and held at the Orangeburg Country Club in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

The Pioneers return eight lettermen from last year's squad which finished fifth at the SAC Championship, its best conference showing in six years. TU posted five top-5 performances in Chandley's inaugural season as head coach.
