PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. --- Tusculum freshman Nicholas Taggart posted a 36-hole score of 139 (-1) including a season-low 67 for second round Monday and is tied for seventh at the Spring Bulldog Clash.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-70, 6,526-yard Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and is hosted by Barton College.

The Pioneers posted a pair of sub-300 rounds of 292 and 288 to card a 580 and is in 11^th place in the 22-team field.

Barton leads the tournament by nine shots as the Bulldogs are nine-under-par with 551 including a 272 to close out day one action. Limestone is second with 560, followed by USC Aiken (564), Lander (565), Belmont Abbey (566), Wingate (568), Newberry (573), Davenport (575), Shorter (576), Rogers State (577), Tusculum, Mount Olive (589), Emmanuel (594), Fayetteville State (595), Catawba (598), Young Harris (599), Ave Maria (600), Southern New Hampshire (600), Livingtstone (606), Northwood (607), Bridgewater (618) and Chowan (637).

After posting a 72 in his opening round, Taggart vaulted 21 spots up the leaderboard and is six strokes behind tournament leader Daniel Adkins of Barton, who shot 66-67=133 (-7).

Taggart's 67 included four birdies, one eagle, three bogeys and 10 pars. It matches the team season-low 67 posted by teammate Thomas Kollberg in the fall and is tied for the 12^th lowest round in program history.

Tusculum's Liam van Deventer is tied for 16^th place with 71-71=142, Riley Brown is 54^th with 74-74=148, Blake Williams is 71^st with 75-76=151 and Liam Hermansson finished with 81-82=163 (T113th).

The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.
