DADE CITY, Fla. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team is currently in 12th place at the Saint Leo Invitational.
The Pioneers posted a team score of 292 and were in the eighth place after the opening 18 holes but are +13 for their second round and +17 for the tournament before play was suspended due to darkness. The second round will resume on Tuesday morning with three holes remaining for the Pioneers.
The final round of the two-day, 54-hole event will begin immediately at the conclusion of the second round.
Lee University is currently the leader as the Flames are -17 as a team including a blistering -13 for their second round. Tampa is second at -13, followed by Carson-Newman (-7), Nova Southeastern (-4), Lynn (-4), Keiser (+4), Montevallo (+5), Valdosta State (+5), Saint Leo (+6), Palm Beach Atlantic (+8), Embry-Riddle (+15), Tusculum (+17), Hillsdale (+22), Kentucky Wesleyan (+24), Georgia College (+26), Monmouth (+26), Eckerd (+28) and Virginia Union (+41).
Beck Burnette of Lee University currently has the lead as he finished his 36 holes and is -10 with 68-66=134.
Tusculum's Blake Williams shot a two-under par 70 to start the day and is even thru 15 holes on his second round. His -2 score has him tied for 14th place.
TU's Nicholas Taggart and Liam van Deventer are tied for 54th place at +6. Thomas Kollberg is 79th at +10 while Liam Hermansson is +11 and is tied for 83rd.
The 18-team tournament is being hosted by Saint Leo University and is being conducted at the par-72, 7,153-yard Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club. This year's field includes five teams currently ranked in the Bushnell/Golfweek DII Coaches' Poll including: No. 5 Lee, No. 7 Nova Southeastern, No. 11 Tampa, No. 18 Saint Leo and No. 20 Carson-Newman
