ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team posted an opening round score of 325 and were in 21st place at the 2022 Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-72, 7,136-yard St. Johns Golf & Country Club and hosted by Lincoln Memorial University.
Monday's second round was suspended due to darkness with five holes remaining and will be resumed Tuesday morning followed by the final 18 holes.
Tusculum's Riley Brown shot an 80 and was the low Pioneer for the first 18 holes. Nicholas Marchese posted an 81, while Dominic Barron Holden and Liam Hermansson each carded an 82. Liam Van Deventer rounded out the TU scoring with is opening 83.
Four teams were locked in a tie for first place honors after Monday's opening round as Barton, Lander, Georgia Southwestern and Limestone each fired 302.
The quartet of Coker, King, Lincoln Memorial and North Georgia were tied for fifth with 304, while Newberry, Wingate, Queens and Anderson logged 307 and are tied for ninth. Valdosta State and Erskine each carded a 310 and were tied for 13th place. Flagler and Emmanuel both shot 314 and were tied for 15th. Belmont Abbey is 18th with 322, while North Greenville and Montevallo are deadlocked for 19th place with 323. Tusculum is 21st, followed by Southern Wesleyan to round out the first round scoring.
Limestone's Kristoffer Larsson shot a three-under par 69 to take the first round lead, one shot better than LMU's Alexei Butchart.
