Tusculum in ninth after day two of SAC Golf Championship

CAMDEN, S.C. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team posted a second round score of 314 and are in ninth place at the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Championship.  The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-70 Camden Country Club and hosted by Coker College.

The Pioneers dropped five spots in the team standings and have a 36-hole total of 607.  Newberry College holds the second-round lead at 573, three strokes clear of second place Queens University of Charlotte (576).  Coker is third with 586, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne University (593), Lincoln Memorial University (597), Carson-Newman University (598), Wingate University (599), Tusculum, Anderson University (614) and Mars Hill University (624).

Newberry's Harry Bolton is holding onto the individual leads as he sits at 66-73=139 (-1) and leads by one shot over the trio of Henry Bryden (Queens), Adrian Villiger (Newberry) and Dawson Walker (Lenoir-Rhyne) as they each are at even par 140 after 36 holes.

Tusculum freshman Kyle Engelbert is in a three-way tie for seventh place at 144 as he posted a second-day 75.  His round included three birdies, eight bogeys and seven pars as he remains in the top-10 and is five shots behind Bolton for the lead.

TU's Noah Jones is tied for 27th place with 151 including Monday's second round 79.  Jones was two-under par after seven holes with birdies on No. 2 and No.7.  But three bogeys, a double bogey and a 10 on the par-four 14th hole spoiled what looked to be a promising round.

Matt DiBella is in sole possession of 39th with 76-79=155 while Liam Sweeney is tied for 41st with 76-81=157.  Jeffery Perez is 49th with 76-84=160 to round out the TU scoring.

The final round will be played on Tuesday with Tusculum's tee times starting at 9:15 a.m. as the Pioneers will be playing alongside Wingate and Catawba off the 10th tee.
