Pioneers in 16th at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team is in 16th place at the 2019 Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate which is being held at the 7,136-yard, par-72 St. John's Golf & Country Club.

Tusculum posted a first round score of 317 while play in Monday's second round was halted due to darkness. The 105-player field will complete its second round on Tuesday morning, with most golfers still having three to four holes remaining.  The third and final round will commence at the conclusion of the second round.

The Pioneers are currently at 50-over par and are in 16th place on the 19-team leaderboard.

Queens University of Charlotte leads the team competition and is seven-over par, nine shots in front of host Lincoln Memorial at 16-over par.  Barton and Palm Beach Atlantic are tied for third place at +19, followed by Carson-Newman (+21), North Greenville (+24), Flagler (+28), Belmont Abbey (+30), Hillsdale (+32), Mount Olive (+33), Wingate (+34), Coker (+12), Anderson (+37), Southern Wesleyan (+38), Albany State (+45), Tusculum (+50), Arkansas-Monticello (+52), Catawba (+70) and Mars Hill (+75).

Jonathan Noble of Queens is atop the leaderboard at four-under par and is two strokes ahead of Coker's Wanjoo Lee (-2) and Barton's Justin Plane (-2).

Tusculum freshman Kyle Engelbert leads the Pioneers as he is currently tied for 55th at +12.  Engelbert shot 82 in his opening round, but is two-over par in his second round with two holes to play.  His scorecard in the afternoon round includes three birdies, five bogeys and eight pars.

TU sophomore Liam Sweeney is tied for 65th place at +13 as he posted an 80 in the morning sessions and is five-over par in his second round with four holes remaining.  On his final hole of the day, he scored and eagle 3 on the par 5 No. 2 hole at St. John's.

Junior Matt DiBella is tied for 72nd and is 14-over par.  DiBella shot 78 to start the day and is +8 on his second round with three holes left.

Tusculum rookie Noah Jones is currently in 77th place at +15.  Jones fired an 81 to start his spring season and is six-over par for his second round with three holes left.

TU's Jeffrey Perez is making his Pioneer debut this week and is tied for 77th place at +15.  Perez posted a 78 for his first TU round and is +9 in his second round with three holes remaining.
