MORRISTOWN, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team finished third with a two-day score of 620 at the 2018 Walters State Fall Classic. The Pioneers posted a final round 319 on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,055-yard Country Club of Morristown.
Tusculum newcomer Noah Jones led the Pioneers as he finished with 75-80=155 to take sole possession of 12th place.
Host Walters State led wire-to-wire to capture the team crown as the Senators finished with 603, 13 shots better than runner-up Carson-Newman B (616). Carson-Newman C finished fourth with 631 followed by Abraham Baldwin (634), Belmont Abbey B (636), Spartanburg Methodist (649), Union College (669), Bluefield State (738) and Roane State (740).
Elliott Smith of Walters State shot an even par 72 on the final day to finish with 146 and win by three shots over Carson-Newman's Will Collins (72-77=149).
The Tusculum duo of Liam Sweeney and Matt DiBella tied for 13th place with 156, while Kyle Engelbert and Mike Bevacqua tied for 19th place with 157.
The Pioneers wrap up the fall portion of its 2018-2019 schedule. TU returns to action Feb. 11-12 to compete at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate in Fleming Island, Florida.
