FLETCHER, N.C. --- Tusculum University sophomore Liam Sweeney carded an even par 72 and shares the first round lead at the 2018 Mars Hill University Fall Invitational. The Pioneers posted a team score of 303 and is in second place, five shots behind host and day one leader Mars Hill (298).
The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at the par-72, 6,903-yard Broodmoor Golf Links. Montreat College is in third place with 306, followed by Pfeiffer University (307) and Mars Hill B (347).
Sweeney and Austin Fisher of Brevard College, who is playing as an individual competitor share the first round lead, while Mars Hill's Nicholas Boone is in third place with 73. The Pfeiffer duo of Hunter Dillard and Cory Sealander are tied for fourth place after posting rounds of 74.
Tusculum's Jordan Williams shot 76 and is tied for 12th place while junior Matt DiBella is tied for 15th after firing a 77 on Monday. Rookie Kyle Engelbert shot 78 and is tied for 18th, while junior Hunter Chandley is 24th after shooting an 83.
The final round will be played on Tuesday morning.
