FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team posted a third place finish at the 2014 Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate, held at the Fleming Island Golf Club. The Pioneers posted a 54-hole score of 878, including Tuesday's final round 299.

Lincoln Memorial won the team title by the slimmest of margins as the Railsplitters posted 860, one shot ahead of second place Flagler (861), who made a second-day charge with 285. Tusculum's 878 was one stroke better than Coker (879) as the Cobras posted the low round of the day with 284.

UNC Pembroke was fifth with 881, while Wingate (888) and Carson-Newman (894) finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Georgia Southwestern and Belmont Abbey tied for eighth place with 895, followed by Montevallo (897), Newberry (899), Cape Fear (900), King (903), Anderson (913) and Limestone (914).

Flagler's Spencer Schindler captured medalist honors by seven strokes as he carded 69-67-66=202 (-11).

Tusculum junior Coleman Glick finished with a three-round total of 70-71-73=214 for sole possession of sixth place. It was a strange round for Glick, which included four birdies, a triple bogey and a quadruple bogey seven but still accounted for the best finish in his collegiate career.

Sophomore Nick Forsberg tallied a pair of birdies for his 73 on Tuesday as he posted a three-round score of 216 to tie for 10th place. It was Forsberg's third top-10 finish this season.

Senior Dakota Norton tied for 29th place with 76-71-77=224, while junior Warren Cheney (76-75-76=227, T41st) and freshman Taylor Smith (73-79-79=231, T57th) rounded out the scoring for the Pioneers.

Tusculum returns to action Mar. 3-4 for its annual trip to Salisbury, N.C. and the Richard Rendleman Invitational.
