--- Cody Housley has signed a national letter of intent to
attend Tusculum College and play golf for the Pioneers announced TC
men's coach Bob Dibble.
Housley, a native of Englewood, Tenn., is completing his prep
playing career at McMinn County High School, where he is coached by
Jerry Quirk. He is serving as team captain for the Cherokees this
season and has been a four-year starter with the program.
He has qualified for the TSSAA State Tournament twice and finished
third at the 2012 Region Championship. He has a 74.5 scoring
average and was named to the All-Southeast Tennessee "Best of the
Preps" second team. He has also finished third at the 2013 Golf
Capitol Classic.
"Cody is one of the outstanding high school players in the state of
Tennessee," said Dibble. "He has the ability to be one of the best
players in Tusculum history."
Housley appeared in the top-10 player rankings on the AAJGT in
2012-2013, which included back-to-back wins at Willow Creek Country
Club and the Johnson City Country Club. He also qualified to play
in the 2013 Tennessee State Amateur Tournament.
Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with
the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of
the South Atlantic Conference.
Tusculum, the oldest college in the State of Tennessee, sponsors 15
intercollegiate sports. Tusculum, the 28th oldest college in the
nation, is a liberal arts institution committed to providing a
liberal arts education in a Judeo-Christian and civic arts
environment, with pathways for career preparation, personal
development and civic engagement. Approximately twenty-one hundred
students are enrolled on the main campus in Greeneville and three
off-site locations in East Tennessee. The academic programs for
both traditional-aged students and working adults served through
the Graduate and Professional Studies program are delivered using
focused calendars whereby students enroll in one course at a
time.
