The Tusculum men's golf team posted a team score of 614 to tie
for fourth place at the 2013 Walters State Fall Classic, held this
week at The Country Club, Inc.
The Pioneers fired a final round 305, led by junior Warren Cheney's
two-over par 74. TC finished 16 shots behind tournament winner
Tennessee Wesleyan, who posted 598.
Host Walters State finished second with 601, while Brevard placed
third with 604. TC and Lincoln Memorial were fourth with 614,
followed by Berry College (630), Brevard White (634), Berry College
White (645) and Virginia Intermont (689).
Tennessee Wesleyan's Josh Wheeler birdied the first playoff hole to
capture medalist honors over LMU's Garrett Metz. Wheeler won with
a two-under total of 68-74=142.
Sophomore Nick Forsberg was the top Tusculum finisher with his
73-77=150 to finish in sole possession of ninth place. Cheney
posted a two-day score of 78-74=152 to tie for 13th place, while
senior Dakota Norton and junior Coleman Glick posted identical
results of 79-77-156 to finish 20th. Freshman Chris Hutson rounded
out the scoring for the Pioneers with 85-84=169 (T44).
TC junior Leif Ratliff, playing as an individual competitor, posted
78-81=159 to tie for 31st place.
Tusculum wraps up the fall portion of its schedule. The Pioneers
return to action Feb. 10-11 for the Spring Intercollegiate Kickoff
to be held in Fleming Island, Fla.
