PINEHURST, N.C. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team fired a final round 303 to finish with a two-day tally of 619 and place seventh at the Pinehurst Challenge, held this week at The National Golf Club in Pinehurst.

Tusculum's 303 on Tuesday was the fourth lowest score of the day and a 13-shot improvement from Monday on the par-72, 7,122-yard course.

Lenoir-Rhyne rallied from fourth place and a six-stroke deficit on day one to grab the team title by one shot over first-day leader Lincoln Memorial University. The Bears carded a team total of 297 on Tuesday to finish with a two-day score of 599, one better than the Railsplitters' 600. Wingate (603), King (607) and Pfeiffer (614) rounded out the top five, followed by Anderson (616) and Tusculum (619).

Warren Cheney was the top individual finisher for the Pioneers, shooting a two-day total of 154 to place in a tie for 20th. David Talley shot 155 (79-76) to wrap up the tournament in a tie for 24th place, and Derek Cantrell tied for 33rd place at 158 on rounds of 82 and 76.

Justin Harvey had the best final round for the Pioneers, carding a 74 to finish in a tie for 37th place with a 36-hole total of 159. Nick York (140) rounded out the field for the Pioneers in a tie for 40th place, after a closing round of 77.
