PROSPERITY, S.C. --- Tusculum College's Chase Carroll carded a two-round score of four-under par 140 to win the 2008 Honda Columbia Fall Classic, held Saturday at the Mid-Carolina Club. Carroll opened with a four-under 68 in Saturday's first 18 holes. He followed with an even par 72 to win by two shots over Newberry's Stephen Jones.

The Pioneers finished second in the team competition with 290-301=591. Tournament host Newberry Scarlet carded a school record 286-288=574 (-2) to capture the team title. Tusculum was second, followed by Wingate B-Team (595), Newberry-Gray (597), Cape Fear CC (643), Spartanburg Methodist (606), Southern Wesleyan (607), Louisburg (634), Catawba (643) and Surry CC (657).

Lawson George tied for fifth with 72-73=145, while Darren Christie and Jake Scheffers tied for 31st at 155. Will Loggins recorded a 156 to tie for 33rd to round out the Tusculum scoring.

This marks the second straight tournament a Pioneer has captured medalist honors. Christie won the Anderson Invitational title earlier this week. For Carroll, it marks his fourth collegiate title in his storied career.

Tusculum will be at the Sea Trail Invitational next weekend (Sep. 19-21) in Sunset Beach, N.C.
