HICKORY, N.C. --- Tusculum College junior Glenn
Vicary carded a career-best 72 as he and the Pioneers are
in second place after Monday's opening round of the 2009
Chick-Fil-A Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being
played at the par 72, 6,610-yard Catawba Springs Golf Club.
Tusculum posted a team score of 303 and is seven shots behind
tournament leader UNC Pembroke (296). Wingate University and host
Lenoir-Rhyne University are tied for third place at 304. Catawba
College is fifth with 306, followed by Concord University (316) and
Lincoln Memorial University (329).
Vicary's 72 is one off the pace set by Lenoir-Rhyne's Kent George
at one-under par 71. The Tusculum trio of Chase
Carroll, Lawson George and Darren
Christie are all tied for 13th place with 77, while
Will Loggins is tied for 39th with his opening
86.
The tournament will wrap up on Tuesday with the final round.
