SMYRNA, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's bowling team is in ninth place after day one of the 2022 Brandon Burns Memorial which is being held this weekend at the Smyrna Bowling Center.
The Pioneers bowled a six-game traditional total 5796 and are tied for ninth place in the 18-team field.
Pikeville has the Saturday lead with 6,736 pins while Tennessee Southern is second with a score of 6,391. Tennessee Wesleyan is third with 6,383, followed by Emmanuel (6280), Belmont Abbey (6273), Bethel (6083), Cumberlands (6057), Milligan (5993), Tusculum (5796), Lindsey Wilson (5796), Thomas More (5776), Cumberland (5775), Campbellsville (5651), Union (5557), Midway (5470), Southeastern Illinois (5115), Shawnee State (4926) and South Florida (4851).
Tusculum graduate student Tyler Moore bowled a six-game total of 1,258 pins as he finished 22nd individually and averaged 209.7 per game. Moore opened with 220 and followed with games of 185, 223, 217, 225 and 188.
TU teammate Gabe Taulbee tallied 1,162 pins, Mason Morgan rolled a pinfall of 1,132 and Randall Andrews finished with 1,115 pins. Justin Rodgers carded a five-game total of 983 and Aeron Burkhardt posted a one-game score of 146.
The tournament will conclude with 16 Baker games on Sunday.
