Taulbee finishes 16th at ISC Sectional

SMYRNA, Tenn. --- Tusculum University's Gabe Taulbee finished tied for 16th place at the 2022 Intercollegiate Singles Championship Sectional Qualifier at the Smyrna Lanes on Friday.

Taulbee bowled a five-game total 1,180 and was the top individual scorer for the Pioneers. Taulbee posted a 224 in his second game followed by a 221 in the third.

TU's Aeron Burkhardt tied for 47th place with his 1,127 total pinfall. Tyler Moore placed 59th with 1,112 and Justin Rodgers tied for 60th with 1,111. Tucker Strack posted 986 and was 130th, followed by Jared Vermillion (952 – 143rd), Randall Andrews (935 – T156th) and Toney Franklin (922 – T161st) to round out the Tusculum scoring.

The top-six qualifiers advance to next month's ISC National Championship in Illinois.

Pikeville's Bryce Oliver won the sectional with a six-game total 1,446 which included a 300-game in his fourth game of the day. Dillon McArthur of Indiana Tech was second with 1,273 pins, one-pin ahead of Yannick Roos of SCAD. Tennessee Wesleyan's Devean Littlejohn and Kory Driver tied for fourth place with 1,262 pins. South Florida's Antonio Corea earned the sixth and final spot with 1,258 pins, 10 ahead of seventh place Jarred Dudden of Tennessee Southern.

The Tusculum men will compete in the Intercollegiate Team Championship sectional on Saturday and Sunday in Smyrna.
