Tusculum listed in final NCAA men's basketball statistics

INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum University men's basketball team finished the season listed in five categories in the final 2019-2020 NCAA Division II national statistics.

The Pioneers led the country in offensive rebounds per game averaging 15.97 boards per contest which were also the fifth-most for all NCAA divisions.

Tusculum was also tops in the South Atlantic Conference in rebound margin at +9.0 which was also third-best in the country. TU's 40.84 total rebounds per game average was second in the league and 14th in NCAA II.

The Pioneers led the SAC averaging 8.7 steals per game (24th in NCAA II) and second in blocked shots per game (3.9 bpg – 40th in NCAA II).

Tusculum junior forward Brandon Mitchell (Virginia Beach, Va.) established a school single-season record with his 62 total blocked shots, averaging 1.94 per game (2nd in SAC / 23rd in NCAA II). He also led the conference in offensive rebounds per game averaging 3.63 per contest (12th in NCAA II).

The Pioneers ended the season with a 19-13 overall record and finished fourth in the final league standings for a second straight season under head coach JT Burton. Tusculum advanced to the SAC Tournament semifinals for the first time since the 2010-2011 campaign.
