Moore, Steigerwald, Pioneers listed in NCAA Men's basketball statistics

INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum College guard Kyle Moore is the third-leading scorer in the nation according to this week's NCAA Division II men's basketball statistics. Moore is listed in four categories, including three in the top 10. Sophomore guard Justin Steigerwald is mentioned twice, while the Pioneers are ranked in five team categories.

Moore, a 6-3, 190-pound senior from Gainesville, Fla., is averaging 24.9 points per game, which is tops in the South Atlantic Conference and the NCAA II Southeast Region. Moore's scoring average is also the fifth-best for all NCAA divisions. He has scored 1,792 points in his 86-game career at Tusculum, which is fourth in school history and sixth in the league record book.

Moore is third nationally in three-point field goals made per game, averaging 4.1 treys per contest. His 112 three-point field goals this year are the most in school and conference history. In just 86 games at Tusculum, Moore has generated 301 three-pointers, which are a league-record and second most in school history. Moore is also listed fifth nationally in all three NCAA divisions in three-pointers.

Moore is ninth in the country in three-point field goal percentage (.459) and 37th in free throw percentage (.860).

Steigerwald, a 6-3, 190-pound native of Cincinnati, Ohio, continues to lead the league in assists, averaging 5.3 helpers per contest. The Oak Hill High School graduate also leads the conference in assist/turnover ratio, posting a 2.54 rating, which is 17th in the land.

The Pioneers (16-11) are ranked in five team statistical categories, including 11th in scoring defense (61 ppg), 39th in field goal percentage defense (.409), seventh in three-point field goal percentage (.414), eighth in three-point field goal percentage defense (.293) and 20th in free throw percentage (.744).

Tusculum, the No. 2 seed in the 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament, will host seventh-seed Carson-Newman College on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in a quarterfinal round contest at Pioneer Arena.
