Deandre Butler was named to the Tusculum football staff as a graduate assistant coach in Summer 2023. He will be assisting in coaching the TU offensive line.

The Opelika, Alabama native played the last three seasons at NCAA-FBS Troy where he played in 32 games including the last 24 starting on the offensive line. He started in all 14 games at offensive guard in last year’s 12-2 campaign which included a 2022 Sun Belt Conference Championship and an 18-12 win over No. 22 UTSA in the Cure Bowl in Orlando. The Trojans ended the season with an 11-game winning streak and finished the year ranked 19th in the final Associated Press Poll and No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

He began his playing career at Jacksonville State University where appeared in 18 games for the Gamecocks as he blocked for the top offense in the Ohio Valley Conference. He helped JSU to the 2018 NCAA FCS Playoffs and a win over ETSU. Jacksonville State finished the season with 6,465 total yards including a school record 3,864 passing yards.

Butler graduated from Troy in 2022 with his undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary studies.
