Football roars to 45-11 win at Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. --- Isaac Robinson rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns and Gaffney native Luke Lancaster threw for 367 yards and a score in his return home in Tusculum's 45-11 win at Limestone Saturday night in the first meeting between the two programs.

Tusculum (4-4) accounted for 562 yards on the night while scoring 38 unanswered points to start the game, including a 31-0 lead at halftime.

Lancaster completed passes to nine different receivers, including six times to senior Justin Houston for 55 yards, who tied the Tusculum career record with his 2,928 receiving yards, sharing the TC mark with former teammate Rashaad Carter (2008-2011).

Robinson breaks the century mark in rushing yards for a third time this season and fourth in his career. Included in his yardage tally were TD runs covering 14 and 30 yards for his sixth and seventh touchdown carries of the season.

Josh Jackson ran the football nine times for 37 yards, including a pair of touchdowns, while DJ Samuels posted 40 yards on nine attempts, including five-yard TD scamper to cap the scoring for the Pioneers.

Ken Drummond posted a career-best 124 receiving yards on three catches, including his 82-yard reception, which is tied for the eighth longest pass play in program history.

Tusculum linebacker L'Keith Brown led the Pioneers defensively with a career-high 13 tackles, including eight solo hits and a tackle for loss. Cameron Thomas recorded a season-best nine tackles and was credited with his South Atlantic Conference-leading 14th pass defended this season.

Ken Funnye added eight receptions for 72 yards, while Rodnell Cruell tallied three catches for 33 yards, including 16-yard touchdown from Lancaster late in the opening quarter.

Limestone finished the game with 373 yards (188 rush, 185 pass) as Ga'Quan Maize ran for 72 yards on 11 carries.

Tusculum kicker Will Tommie got the Pioneers on the board at the 8:14 mark of the first quarter, converting a 27-yard field goal.

The Pioneers posted 21 points in the second quarter, including Robinson's 30-yard touchdown run and Jackson's scoring carries covering one and two yards, respectively.

Tusculum returns to conference play next Saturday as they host cross-mountain foe Mars Hill at 1:30 p.m.
