--- Tusculum College quarterback Bo Cordell has been named the
South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week announced
league officials Monday. Cordell has earned this honor three times
this season and nine times in his career.
Cordell passed for 569 yards and five touchdowns in Saturday's
49-42 come-from-behind win over Mars Hill University the season
finale for both teams. The 569-yard effort was the second-best
passing performance in both TC and SAC history (Cordell passed for
a TC and SAC record 596 yards earlier this season vs. Elizabeth
City State).
The Cincinnati, Ohio graduate student established two more records
for his stellar career last weekend. He became NCAA Division II's
all-time leader in total offensive yards (16,432), while his 112
career touchdown passes are a new SAC record.
The Harlon Hill Trophy candidate also rushed for a touchdown as the
Pioneers (4-7, 2-5 SAC) rallied from a 42-28 third quarter deficit,
scoring 21 unanswered points.
Cordell leaves Tusculum the holder of 15 NCAA records, including
career passing yards (16,265), career completions (1397) and career
pass attempts (2187). In his 46-game career, he has passed for 200
or more yards 42 times and 300-plus yards on 31 occasions.
