
INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum quarterback Bo Cordell is eighth in the nation in total offense according to this week's NCAA Division II football statistics.
Cordell, a redshirt junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, leads the South Atlantic Conference in total offense, averaging 326.2 yards per game, including Saturday's 426-yard effort against archrival Carson-Newman.
Cordell is also ranked fourth in completions per game (29.8 cpg), ninth in total passing yards (3,089) and 10th in pass yards per game (308.9 ypg).
Cordell already owns 18 school records, nine conference records and five NCAA records in his 34-game career. He has passed for 12,190 yards in his career, which are seventh-most in DII history. His 1,076 career completions are third in the DII record book and just 43 shy of the all-time NCAA mark (Steven Gachette, SW Baptist - 1,119 from 2007-10).
On Saturday, he passed for 323 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for a career-best 103 yards on 20 carries. He established a new TC record against Carson-Newman with his 85 career TD passes, breaking the previous mark held by Corey Russell (82 from 2005-08).
Junior receiver Xzanvion Smith is listed in four statistical categories, including 15th in total receiving yards (973), 20th in receiving yards per game (97.3 ypg), 26th in receptions per game (6.5 rpg) and 24th in all-purpose yards per game (155.1 ypg). Smith recorded 112 receiving yards on seven catches on Saturday, including a pair of touchdowns. The Anderson, S.C. native has posted six career games with over 100 yards, including five times this year.
Smith's 973 receiving yards are sixth most in school history, while his 65 receptions are ninth most by Pioneer. In his 32 career games, he has 10th in school history with 1,453 receiving yards and fourth in yards per reception (17.09 ypc).
Senior running back Brian Marshall (Chattanooga, Tenn.) is 16th in the country in all-purpose yards, averaging a SAC-best 163.50 ypg. Marshall is also 48th in receptions per game (5.88 rpg - 5th in SAC), 33rd in kickoff returns (25.95 ypr - 2nd in SAC) and 37th in punt returns (10.83 ypr - 2nd in SAC).
Senior punter Andy Rosetti (Kenneth City, Fla.) remains 11th in the country in punting average at 42.48, which is the second-highest in the league. Rosetti's average is presently the third highest in TC single-season history. He is also fifth in career punting average (39.18), and second in punts (141) and punting yards (5,524).
Sophomore kicker Logan Cornelius is 50th in the nation in field goals per game (0.89 - 3rd in SAC), while junior defensive back Kaytron Becton (Miami, Fla.) is 17th in passes defended per game (1.50). On the year, Becton has posted three interceptions and 12 pass break-ups.
As a team, the Pioneers are listed eighth in net punting (37.77), 12th in passing offense (316.4 ypg - 2nd in SAC), 18th in kickoff returns (23.54 - 2nd in SAC) and 36th in turnovers forced (23 - 3rd in SAC).
Tusculum (2-8, 1-5 SAC) will close out its season on Saturday as the Pioneers travel to Wingate (5-5, 4-2 in SAC) for a 1:30 p.m. contest.
