ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University second baseman Zach Wilson has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Wilson, a graduate student from Lawndale, North Carolina, batted .538 going 7-for-13 with three doubles and four runs scored as the Pioneers went 3-1 on the week.
Wilson started the week going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles in Tusculum's 6-4 win over 15th-ranked Lee University. He would go 4-for-9 on the weekend as the Pioneers captured its fourth straight SAC series win as TU took two of three games against Wingate. With the series win, Tusculum moves into second place in the SAC standings.
On the season, Wilson is third on the club with his .330 batting average where he has totaled 31 hits including five doubles in his 25 starts in the infield.
Tusculum (20-14, 14-7 SAC) has won five its last six games and have gone 11-4 in the last 15 outings. The Pioneers will close out its season-long, five-game homestand when they host nationally-ranked Young Harris on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
