GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Tusculum University third baseman Christian Ortega has been named to the 2023 American Baseball Coaches Association / Rawlings NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region second team.

Ortega, a senior from Miami, Florida, becomes a consensus All-Region selection after receiving recognition from the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).

The 2023 All-South Atlantic Conference second team selection led the Black & Orange with his .385 batting average (5th in SAC) and 67 hits (8th in SAC), including his 20 doubles which were second-most in the conference and 27th in the country. His 20 doubles are the fifth-most in a Tusculum single-season.

He led TU with his 20 multiple-hit games including a pair of four-hit outings against Shorter and Anderson. He also finished the year with a 19-game on-base streak. He finished tied for the team-lead with his eight home runs while his 44 RBI were best on the club.

Tusculum ended the year with a 25-24 record and has advanced to the SAC Tournament in 22 of the last 23 seasons.
