ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum's McKenly Berry has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Berry, a graduate student from Elizabethton, Tennessee, recorded two saves as the Pioneers rallied to a pair of victories last week.
In Tusculum's 13-10 road win at Lee last Tuesday, he faced a bases-loaded and no-out situation in the bottom of the ninth inning, but worked out of the jam with back-to-back strikeouts and a ground out to end the game.
Against Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, he inherited another jam in the eighth inning as he faced another bases-loaded situation, this time with one out. He ended the threat with a strikeout and a fly out to preserve the 4-3 lead.
Berry pitched 2.2 shutout innings on the week and finished with five strikeouts.
The Pioneers (21-10) will be at Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday night, weather-permitting, for a 6 p.m. non-conference contest against the Bears.
