
ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College's Zach Slagle has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week. Slagle shares this week's honor with Thomas St. Clair of Lenoir-Rhyne University and earns SAC Pitcher of the Week honors for a second time in his career.
Slagle, a graduate student from Powell, Tennessee, pitched six strong innings in Tusculum's 3-0 win at 18th-ranked Belmont Abbey last Friday. The 2017 Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference honoree, scattered four hits, walked three and posted six strikeouts. He left runners in scoring position on four occasions before working a perfect sixth frame in his final inning of work.
In his two starts this year, Slagle is 1-0 with 2.70 earned run average. He has appeared in 35 career games where he has a 14-5 record with a 3.72 ERA.
Tusculum (3-4) returns to action this Friday when the Pioneers host Bellarmine University for a 4 p.m. contest. It will be the first of a three-game weekend series with 1 p.m. games on Saturday and Sunday at Pioneer Park.
