
NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College catcher
Jim Tolle has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association
College Baseball Player of the Week.
Tolle batted .533 (8-for-15) with eight RBI as the Pioneers posted
a perfect 4-0 record during the week.
The Palm Bay, Fla., native posted two hits in all four contests,
including a double, home run, two runs scored and four RBI in
Tusculum's 7-3 win over defending NCAA Division II Southeast Region
champion Lander University.
The junior was 6-for-11 in the three-game South Atlantic
Conference Anderson University, driving in two runs with a
sacrifice fly in the first game and plating two more runs in the
second contest. He scored once in the final game against the
Trojans.
Tolle leads Tusculum with a .388 batting average along with four
doubles and 21 RBI in 27 contests this season.
In his last outing against Lincoln Memorial University, he had his 19-game hitting streak halted.
Tusculum (21-10, 15-5 SAC) returns to action this Friday when the Pioneers travel to Coker College for a three-game conference series. TC is riding a six-game winning streak and have won seven of its last eight outings.
