SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. --- Tusculum first baseman
Heath Comerford has been named the National Collegiate Baseball
Writers Association NCAA Division II Southeast Region Player of the
Week announced league officials Wednesday.
Comerford, 6-4, 210-pound junior from Athens, Tenn., hit .556 with
a pair of walk-off hits as Tusculum went 3-2 on the week, including
a series victory over conference foe Wingate. For his efforts, he
was also named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the
Week.
He hit a 10th-inning walk-off double last Tuesday in an 11-10
victory over Trevecca Nazarene. In the game, he finished going
5-for-5 with three doubles, a triple and a home run. The three
doubles tied a school single-game record, while his 13 total bases
were the second most in program history.
Comerford closed out the weekend series finale with Wingate with a
three-run homer to beat the Bulldogs 4-3.
In all, Comerford had 10 hits on the week along with eight RBI and drew five walks. He had a .652 on-base percentage and a 1.222 slugging percentage.
