Tusculum stays at fourth in Collegiate Baseball Poll

TUCSON, Ariz. --- The Tusculum College baseball remains fourth in this week's Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II Coaches' Poll.

Tusculum has been nationally-ranked for 11 consecutive weeks, including the last month in the top-five.

The Pioneers (46-8) are receiving 438 total points in the latest national rankings as Tusculum continues to top DII in victories and won-loss percentage (.852).

Mount Olive is once again the top-ranked team in this week's poll with 480 points, while Tampa and St. Mary's (Texas) are ranked second and third, respectively.

Tusculum is fourth, followed by Central Missouri, Francis Marion, Minnesota State-Mankato, Delta State, Armstrong and Nova Southeastern to round out the top 10. Western Oregon is 11th, while USC Aiken and St. Cloud State are tied for 12th. West Chester is 14th, followed by Seton Hill, Angelo State, Indianapolis, Franklin Pierce, Catawba, Grand Valley State, Colorado Mesa, LeMoyne, Southern New Hampshire, Mercyhurst, Georgia College, Texas A&M-Kingsville, North Alabama, St. Edwards, New Mexico Highlands, Southern Arkansas and Lander.

With the regular-season completed, the 2012 South Atlantic Conference champions will sit and await the announcement of the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship bracket, which will be announced on May 13. TC has already punched its NCAA postseason ticket by winning the SAC Tournament title and the league's automatic bid that comes with it.

TC's 46 wins are the second most in school history and tied for the third most in conference history, matching the 46-win campaign by Wingate in the 1995 season. TC needs one more victory to match Catawba's 47 wins in 2006 and four more to match the 50-14 slate posted by the Pioneers in 2007.

Tusculum's .852 won-loss percentage is on-pace to be a new single-season school and league mark. The school record is .781 by the 2007 squad, while Catawba's 38-7 record in 1992 was good enough for a .844 winning percentage.
