WILSON, N.C. --- Tusculum College's Sean Cotten and Alexi Colon have been named to the 2011 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II All-Southeast Region Second Team announced officials Monday.

Cotten returns to the NCBWA All-Region Team for a second straight year, while Colon garners his third All-Region accolade this season.

Cotten, a 6-2, 200-pound senior catcher from Mooresville, N.C., has wrapped up one of the most productive careers in program history. The two-time All-South Atlantic Conference First Team leaves Tusculum as the school's all-time leader in home runs (35), RBI (186), total bases (385), walks (106) and sacrifice flies (19).

The 2010 NCBWA All-American finished fourth on the squad this year hitting .345 with a team-best 16 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 43 RBI and a team-best 16 stolen bases. The Lake Norman High School graduate tied for the team-lead with 50 runs scored, matching the tally posted by Colon. Cotten was also a three-time SAC All-Tournament Team selection, including this year.

Colon, a 5-8, 175-pound junior outfielder from Vineland, N.J., batted .331 in his 50 games, while leading the team with 12 home runs (4th in SAC/22nd in NCAA II), 62 runs batted in (3rd in SAC/8th in NCAA II), 113 total bases (4th in SAC/43rd in NCAA II), 50 runs scored (5th in SAC/45th in NCAA II), 38 walks (3rd in SAC/17th in NCAA II), five sacrifice flies (1st in SAC) 181 at-bats and a .624 slugging percentage (4th in SAC). His 12 homers are tied for the sixth most in a Tusculum season, while his 62 RBI were eighth most by a Pioneer. His 38 bases on balls were also tied for fourth in school history.

The 2011 All-South Atlantic Conference First Team selection also tallied 60 hits, 13 doubles, two triples and eight stolen bases. He also accounted for a .445 on-base percentage, which was ninth in the conference.

Tusculum posted a 33-18 record and finished third in the league. The Pioneers recorded their 11th consecutive winning season and ninth 30-win campaign.

The NCBWA All-Southeast Region Team is selected by a vote of a panel of the region's sportswriters, sportscasters and sports information directors that cover Division II baseball.
