
INDIANAPOLIS --- The
Tusculum College baseball team leads the nation in bases on balls
according to this week's NCAA Division II statistics.
The Pioneers are ranked in 14 team categories, while five players
are mentioned 10 times individually.
Tusculum has recorded 240 walks this year, which are the second
most in a single-season at the Greeneville, Tenn. school.
The Pioneers are also second in second in sacrifice flies (33),
fourth in runs scored (398), sixth in hits (514), ninth in hit by
pitch (72), 10th in scoring (8.5 runs per game), 12th in home runs
(46), 14th in slugging percentage (.494), 14th in doubles (101),
28th in triples (14), 32nd in double plays (36), 41st in strikeouts
per nine innings pitched (7.8) and 42nd in stolen bases (74).
All-South Atlantic Conference First Team outfielder Alexi Colon (Vineland, N.J.) is ranked in the top 50 in six statistical categories, including: seventh in runs batted in (58), 15th in home runs (11), 15th in bases on balls (34), 29th in sacrifice flies (5), 32nd in total bases (102) and 33rd in runs (47),
Senior All-American catcher Sean Cotten (Mooresville, N.C.) is ranked five categories, including: 15th in bases on balls (34), 29th in sacrifice flies (5), 30th in runs (48), 47th in doubles (15) and 49th in home runs (8).
All-Conference outfielder Rolondo Bonner (Garner, N.C.) is listed twice, including 29th in sacrifice flies and 40th in runs scored (46). Senior shortstop Branfy Arias (LaRomana, D.R) is also mentioned twice and is listed 16th in sacrifice bunts (10) and 36th in hit by pitch (13).
All-SAC First Team pitcher Craig Goodman (Clearwater, Fla.) is
tops on the team with seven victories, which are 35th in the
nation.
Tusculum (31-16) closes out the regular season with four games this
week, starting with Thursday's home finale against Limestone
College at 4 p.m. from Pioneer Park.
