Tusculum listed in NCAA baseball statistics

INDIANAPOLIS --- For a third straight week, the Tusculum College baseball team leads the nation in bases on balls and sacrifice flies according to this week's NCAA Division II statistics.

The Pioneers are ranked in 17 team categories, while seven players are mentioned 12 times, individually for games through April 10.

Tusculum has recorded 216 walks and 30 sacrifice flies, all tops in the nation.

The Pioneers are also second in scoring (9.1 runs per game), second in total runs scored (365), fourth in hits (450), sixth in slugging percentage (.514), sixth in hit by pitch (64), seventh in home runs (42), 13th in batting average (.336), 16th in doubles (87), 19th in won-loss percentage (.750), 21st in triples (13), 27th in double plays (31), 29th in stolen bases (67), 38th in sacrifice bunts (28), 46th in earned runs average (3.61) and 47th in walks allowed per nine innings pitched (3.22).

Senior All-American catcher Sean Cotten (Mooresville, N.C.) is ranked in the top 50 in eight statistical categories, including 12th in sacrifice flies (5), 13th in bases on balls (30), 21st in runs scored (42), 27th in home runs (8), 28th in RBI (40), 40th in total bases (85), 41st in on-base percentage (.497) and 48th in slugging percentage (.659),

Junior outfielder Alexi Colon (Vineland, N.J.) is listed six times, including: eighth in RBI (50), 14th in bases on balls (29), 24th in runs scored (41), 27th in home runs (8), 35th in total bases (86) and 39th in sacrifice flies (4).

Senior outfielder Rolondo Bonner (Garner, N.C.) is listed three times, including 12th in sacrifice flies, 14th in the country in runs scored (45) and 49th in total bases (83).

Senior shortstop Branfy Arias (LaRomana, D.R) and junior pitcher Craig Goodman (Clearwater, Fla.) are each ranked in the top 50 on two occasions. Arias is 10th in sacrifice bunts (9) and 17th in hit by pitch (13), while Goodman is 13th in pitching victories (7) and 44th in strikeouts (58).

Senior second baseman Payden Houser (Lincolnton, N.C.) is 39th in sacrifice flies (4), while junior catcher Nate Reid (Bourbonnais, Ill.) is 45th in hit by pitch (10).

Tusculum (30-11) returns to action on Wednesday as the Pioneers take on Lander University for a 4 p.m. contest in Greenwood, S.C.
