Tusculum, Mars Hill baseball halted, DH to resume Sunday

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The second game of this weekend's South Atlantic Conference baseball series between Tusculum College and Mars Hill College was halted in the sixth inning Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Park.

With the Pioneers leading 9-4 heading to the bottom of the sixth, the game was stopped at 4:42 p.m. due to a line of severe thunderstorms that moved through the area. The game will resume at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon, followed by a seven-inning game to close out the three-game series.

Play was eventually called when several storm fronts moved through depositing heavy rain and golf ball sized hail onto the Greeneville campus.

Those fans in attendance who purchased tickets for Saturday's doubleheader, will have those rain checks honored for Sunday's contest.

The band performance by "Planet Hofmann" has been postponed as has Saturday night's fireworks show. An announcement will be made if those events are rescheduled.
