BASEBALL BEATS CONCORD 10-1

ATHENS, W.Va. --- The Tusculum College baseball team pounded out 15 hits, including Matt Webb's 3-for-5 effort as the Pioneers defeated Concord University 10-1 Thursday afternoon at Anderson Field. The scheduled doubleheader was shortened to a nine-inning contest due to inclement weather.

Tusculum starter Boo Morrow earned his first collegiate victory as he tossed seven innings, allowed six hits, a run, walked three and struck out two. Ryan Pfelger and Carlos Ortiz pitched the final two innings as they retired the Mountain Lions in order

Maikol Gonzalez highlighted a four-run, third inning for Tusculum as he connected on a three-run homer as the Pioneers jumped out to a 6-1 advantage. TC batted around in the fifth inning as the Pioneers plated three runs, including a RBI triple by Webb and a run-scoring double off the bat of Dustin Morrow.

Gonzalez finished the day going 2-for-4 with four RBI, while Andrew Winslow, Aaron Porter and Aaron Hudgins all accounted for multi-hit games.

Tusculum (21-9) returns to Tennessee to face South Atlantic Conference rival Carson-Newman College for a three-game series in Jefferson City, beginning with Saturday's noon doubleheader.
