
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's beach volleyball team lost the South Atlantic Conference matchup to Carson-Newman on Wednesday (Mar. 19) afternoon.
Tusculum (4-7, 2-3 SAC) makes the return trip to Jefferson City to face archrival Carson-Newman in one week. The Wednesday (Mar. 26) match between the Pioneers and Eagles is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Morgan Willis and Ryann Gallagher dropped the second flight by identical 21-11, 21–11 scores.
At the exhibition flight, Lindy Carter and Nyah Goss fell 21-18, 21-13.
Carson-Newman finished out the sweep of the first wave, downing Katie Murphy and Sofia Richmond 21-18, 21-16 at the fourth slot.
Mia Johnson and Kassidy Mercado began the second wave with a 21-13, 21-12 loss at the third flight.
Tusculum's lone point came in the fifth flight, courtesy of Landry Tea and Kyla Oppenhuis. The duo was victorious 21-16, 21-17.
Hannah Marsh and Brynn Smith nearly pulled off the comeback at the top. The pair forced a decisive third set, but came up short 21-23, 21-17, 6-15.
