CONWAY, S.C. --- The Tusculum University women's beach volleyball team dropped both of its matches on Saturday (Mar. 16) at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.

Next, Tusculum (10-6) stays on the road for a five-match weekend at Palm Beach Atlantic (Mar. 22-23). The Pioneers will face the likes of Eckerd, nationally-ranked Tampa, Barry in their inaugural season, a rematch with Spring Hill, and the hosting Sailfish.

Match 1: Central Arkansas 3, Tusculum 2
The Sugar Bears exacted their revenge upon the Pioneers in their second matchup of the weekend.

Morgan Willis and Katie McLamb ended up with the first result, a loss at No. 5 by scores of 21-9, 21-14.

At No. 4, Charlyn Miller and Katie McLamb tied the match with their 18-21, 22-20, 15-10 comeback.

UCA retook the match lead at No. 2 over Kyla Oppenhuis and Brynn Smith, 21-17, 21-12.

The Sugar Bears clinched the match at the third flight against Hannah Marsh and Riley Rushing, 21-18, 21-14.

Morgan Browne and Olivia Browne posted the final tally for TU, winning 23-21, 21-13 at the top flight.

In the exhibition sixth flight, Emily Venable and Diana Bierwagen dropped a three-set battle: 18-21, 22-20, 12-15.

Match 2: RV Coastal Carolina 5, Tusculum 0
The Pioneers nearly posted a pair of comebacks, which were spoiled by the Sandy Chants.

Miller and McLamb finished first at No. 4 by scores of 21-18, 21-17, followed closely by the 5's of Willis and Murphy, 21-16, 21-19.

Oppenhuis and Smith were downed 21-13, 21-16 at No. 2, while the Browne twins fell by identical 21-16 scores at the top flight.

Marsh/Rushing tried for a reverse sweep at No. 3, yet fell 18-21, 21-19, 11-15.

At No. 6, Venable/Bierwagen came up short in three sets, 12-21, 24-22, 13-15.
