GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's beach volleyball team has now won seven-straight contests, all in March, after sweeping Erskine in its first home match of the season.
Next, Tusculum (9-3) goes to Conway, South Carolina for a two-day (Mar. 15-16) round robin, featuring Coastal Carolina and Central Arkansas. The opening match versus the Sugar Bears is scheduled for 10 a.m.
Match 1: Tusculum 5, Erskine 0
The Pioneers opened their home portion of the season with a blanking of the Flying Fleet.
Charlyn Miller and Katie McLamb got Tusculum on the board first at No. 4 with a 21-9, 21-11 result.
Morgan Willis and Katie Murphy tallied identical 21-18 set scores for the second point for TU at No. 5.
Riley Rushing and Hannah Marsh won at the No. 3 flight by scores of 21-11, 21-16 as the clincher.
Morgan Browne and Olivia Browne beat their former team 21-14, 21-17 as the top flight.
Rounding out the match was Brynn Smith and Kyla Oppenhuis pulling off a come from behind victory: 19-21, 21-17, 15-13.
In the exhibition, Diana Bierwagen and Emily Venable won 21-14, 21-18.
Match 2: Tusculum 5, Erskine 0
TU finished out the day with a consecutive shutout of Erskine.
Miller and McLamb made quick work of their Fleet opposites at No. 4: 21-11, 21-12.
At No. 5, Willis and Murphy made a comeback to win 13-21, 21-16, 15-12.
Rushing and Marsh breezed through their match at No. 3: 21-5, 21-13.
The Browne twins had a close rematch at the top flight, but came out victorious: 21-18, 21-16.
Smith and Oppenhuis rounded out the perfect day with a 21-10, 21-14 decision.
Bierwagen and Venable reverse swept their foes in the exhibition flight by scores of 18-21, 21-16, 15-13.
