GULF SHORES, Ala. --- The Tusculum University women's beach volleyball team has run its win streak up to five matches after closing out the weekend at the Badger Beach Bash.
Next, Tusculum (7-3) plays its first home match of the season, hosting Erskine on March 12. The doubleheader between the Pioneers and Flying Fleet is scheduled to begin at noon.
Match 1: Tusculum 4, Hendrix 1
The Pioneers made easy work of the defending Division III national champion Warriors.
Olivia Browne and Morgan Browne notched a 21-17, 21-16 victory for their sixth-straight winning decision at No. 2.
Riley Rushing and Hannah Marsh made it four-in-a-row as a pair with a 21-10, 21-19 verdict.
Charlyn Miller and Katie McLamb claimed a victory at No. 4, 21-14, 21-17.
Wrapping up the scoring were Emily Venable and Diana Bierwagen at No. 5. The pairing survived a comeback attempt by scores of 21-15, 17-21, 15-10.
The lone loss in the regular flights was at the top slot with Kyla Oppenhuis and Brynn Smith. The duo dropped a three-set decision: 21-15, 18-21, 10-15.
Addison Williams and Mia Johnson fell at the exhibition flight by scores of 218, 16-21, 7-15.
Match 2: Tusculum 5, Huntingdon 0
The Pioneers won all six flights in straight sets over the Hawks.
Oppenhuis/Smith tallied a 21-18, 21-14 victory at No. 1.
The Browne twins notched a 21-19, 25-23 win at the second flight.
At No. 3, Rushing and Marsh won by a nearly identical 21-16, 25-23 score.
The 4's of Miller and McLamb made quick work of their Hawk counterparts by scores of 21-8, 21-11.
Venable and Bierwagen won at No. 5 via a 26-24, 21-10 decision.
The exhibition flight of Kaite Murphy and Morgan Willis won a set against two different pairs. They won the first, 21-12, and the second, 21-10.
