Tusculum falls to Division I Mocs

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University beach volleyball team dropped its first contest of the season by the slimmest of margins. The Pioneers (5-1) were on the wrong side of a 3-2 score against the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mocs on Friday (Feb. 25) afternoon.

Tusculum continues its home round robin early Saturday (Feb. 26) morning, facing rival Carson-Newman at 8 a.m. and Eastern Kentucky at noon.

Olivia Knutson and Katie McLamb improved to 5-0 as a pair in the No. 4 slot, giving Tusculum the early 1-0 lead in the match. The freshmen pair won 21-9, 21-16.

Britney Shawel and Landry Tea were in the deciding flight as the third pair with the match tied 2-2, but fell for the first time in their sixth match of the season in a 21-15, 20-22, 8-15 comeback.
