J.C. "RED" EDMONDS FIELD
J.C. Red Edmonds Field serves as the home venue of the Tusculum University softball program.The field is part of the Niswonger Sports Complex.
Edmonds Field, which was originally located next to Pioneer Field on the Northeast corner of the campus, was relocated to its current site, which previously was the home of the Tusculum baseball field.
Since its completion in 2003, the facility has seen several renovations including the latest one in 2012 where new fencing was installed. Renovations also included the the installation of new bullpens, extended fencing in front of the dugouts and relocation of the press box. In 2020, artificial turf was installed in the infield foul areas as well as a state-of-the art batting cage and hitting practice area.
Red Edmonds Field as served as the host venue for the South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship in 2012 and 2021.
The field is named in honor of the late Tusculum and NAIA Hall of Fame coach, who guided the Pioneer softball team from 1981 to 1994.
Edmonds led the TU softball team to an impressive 462-164 record including six conference championships, seven NAIA District titles and four NAIA National Tournament appearances.
