Scott Mitchell joining the Tusculum University athletic staff in July 2023 and currently serves as the Director of Game Day Operations & Athletic Facilities.

During the 2023-24 academic year, Mitchell served as Athletic Administrative Assistant for Game Day Operations.

The Chapel Hill, North Carolina native assists with administrative leadership and support for internal operations of the TU athletic department which includes athletic training, summer camps, marketing, facilities and budgets. He facilitates all game day operations and staffing for all Tusculum home athletic events.

Mitchell is a member of the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.

Mitchell previously served as an athletic event management intern at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2023. While at UNC, he served as the primary game day manager for the men's and women's tennis program. He also assisted with game day management for women's basketball and the NCHSAA 2A/4A Basketball Championships the university hosted.

He served as the tournament manager for the opening rounds and the Super Regional for the NCAA Men's and Women's Tennis Championship held in Chapel Hill. He was the point of contact and host for the ITA Kickoff Weekend and visiting team host for NCHSAA Football.

Last fall, he was the athletic event management assistant at UNC where he helped with security. He also volunteered with game day operations at North Carolina Central University while also attending graduate school at the Durham, North Carolina school.

He also gained experience while a student at Western Carolina University. He served as an arena operations assistant at the Liston B. Ramsey Regional Activity Center. His duties included event management, security, staff training and assessment.

While at the Cullowhee, North Carolina school, he also worked at the Western Carolina Journalist where he was the sports editor, news editor and contributor. His journalistic skills were also shared as a contributing writer at the Sylva Herald, Barstool WCU and WWCU Radio-95.3 FM.

While a student at WCU, Mitchell also served on the baseball coaching staff at Smoky Mountain High School in Sylva, North Carolina.

He graduated from Western Carolina in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications with concentrations in journalism and broadcasting. Mitchell was a member of the Dean's List and Chancellor's List. He is also a member of the Sigma Chi International Fraternity.
