Scott Mitchell joined the Tusculum University athletic staff in July 2023 and currently serves as the Director of Game Day Operations & Athletic Facilities.
During the 2023-24 academic year, Mitchell served as Athletic Administrative Assistant for Game Day Operations. He was promoted to the post of Director of Game Day Operations & Athletic Facilities in July 2024.
The Chapel Hill, North Carolina native assists with administrative leadership and support for internal operations of the TU athletic department which includes athletic training, summer camps, marketing, budgets and facility oversight. He facilitates all game day operations and staffing for all Tusculum home athletic events.
Mitchell is a member of the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
Prior to his arrival at Tusculum, Mitchell worked at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Athletic Event Management office where he served as the primary Game Day Manager for the men’s and women’s tennis program, as well as the secondary manager for UNC women’s basketball. He also assisted in game day operations at the NCHSAA Basketball Championship held at the Dean E. Smith Center.
Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Carolina University in Communications, with concentrations in Broadcasting and Journalism in 2022. While a student at WCU, Mitchell worked for The Western Carolina Journalist as a Sports and News Editor. He also served as an Arena Operations Assistant at the Liston B. Ramsey Center, as well as an Assistant Coach for Smoky Mountain High School baseball program.
Mitchell graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Science degree from North Carolina Central University in Kinesiology and Recreation Administration with a concentration in Athletic Administration in 2024.
