Alice Lawson was appointed as the faculty athletic representative at Tusculum University in the Summer of 2022 by TU president Dr. Scott Hummel.

The faculty athletic representative (FAR) at Tusculum is a member of the faculty or administrative staff who is designated by the president to represent the institution and its faculty in the institution's relationships with the NCAA and the South Atlantic Conference. The FAR is active in maintaining the academic integrity within the athletics program, assisting with the overall student-athlete well-being as well as assists with the institutional control of the athletics program.

Lawson joined the Tusculum faculty in 2018 as assistant rrofessor in the College of Nursing. Before joining she had been a family nurse practitioner in Family Practice for 10 years. She has a special interest in women’s health and GYN. While at Tusculum, she has taught in the BSN and MSN Programs. She has taught a variety of topics such as maternal child health, pharmacology, health assessment and community health nursing.

In addition to her role on the TU faculty, she serves as chair of the Athletics Advisory Committee. She is a member of the Re-opening Task Force, Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, Honor’s Committee, College of Nursing Curriculum Committee, Student Nurses Association Faculty Sponsor and Admission Appeals Committee. Lawson is the lead clinician in the Ballad Health Tusculum University Health Clinic. The clinic opened in August 2021.

Lawson, along with other faculty and students, teamed up with Ballad Health’s Greeneville Community Hospital East to offer Breast Cancer Survivor Spa Day. Alice has coordinated several flu/COVID vaccine clinics on campus and has taken nursing students to COVID vaccine clinics in the community to administer COVID vaccines.

She earned Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from East Tennessee State University in 1993. The added her Master of Science degree in nurshing from ETSU in 2007.

Alice has been married to her husband Jeff for 17 years. She is the mother to two sons. Her oldest, Carter, will be a junior at ETSU in 2022 and her youngest Tate will be going into the sixth grade at Rutledge Elementary. The Lawson family resides in Mooresburg, Tenn. where she he enjoys watching her boys play ball, photography and traveling.

She is a sports photographer for the Morristown Citizen-Tribune and photographs athletics for Grainger High School in Rutledge, Tenn.
