Estep promoted to Director of Sports Performance

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tyler Estep has been promoted to the position of Director of Sports Performance at Tusculum University announced Josh Ealy, Vice President of Athletics.

Estep, a native of Jonesborough, Tennessee, stepped in as the interim director of the department earlier this semester and has served with distinction.

He oversees the development, implantation and oversight of the comprehensive sports performance program for Tusculum's 23 intercollegiate sports programs. He and his staff help student-athletes with the design and implementation of strength, agility, speed, flexibility and conditioning programs.

"We are thrilled to have Tyler lead our program. He has a true passion for teaching, coaching and training student-athletes," said Ealy. "Adding an alum to our staff is invaluable. I look forward to see where his vision can lead the department."

He originally joined the Tusculum athletic staff in the Summer of 2024 where he served the strength and conditioning responsibilities for the Pioneer Football program.

Estep served an internship in the athletic department at NCAA Division I East Tennessee State University where he was mentored by Dave Lawson. He gained valuable insight from a master strength coach designated by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach Association.

"I am incredibly excited and blessed to have the opportunity to lead the Sports Performance department at Tusculum University," Estep said. "I look forward to building a strong, winning culture rooted in discipline, attention to detail, and excellence in and out of the weight room. I truly believe that God called me back to Tusculum for a reason, and I do not take that responsibility lightly. I see Tusculum as fertile soil, ready to yield a rich harvest of consistent success through hard work, unity, and purpose. The best has yet to come!"

Estep played his collegiate football at Tusculum where he was a member of TU's 2020-21 South Atlantic Conference Championship team. He was a member of the Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List, SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List. He was also the recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

His professional experience also includes working in the private sector as a strength coach at D1 Tri-Cities. He also worked with Raven 22 Security Solutions where he gained valuable insight on teamwork and management with the Army Rangers, Delta Force operators and other members of the Special Forces.
