
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University pitcher Philip Miller and sprinter Jahzara Hart have been named the Zaxby's Athletes of the Week.
Miller, a junior left-hander from Flat Rock, Michigan, tossed seven shutout innings in Saturday's 9-0 win at Mars Hill. Miller limited the Lions to three hits, three walks and recorded a season-high eight strikeouts as TU recorded its second straight shutout victory over Mars Hill. The win for Miller (2-3) sealed a weekend series win for the Pioneers.
He has a 2-0 record to go along with a 2.00 earned run average in his last three starts.
Hart won the 100 meters at the Mountaineer First Chance meet on Friday with a school-record time of 11.45 seconds, breaking the mark of 11.81 seconds held by Kiera Taylor. Hart was also part of a record-breaking 4x100-meter relay that was timed in 45.85 seconds, breaking the record of 46.73 seconds set last year.
The Raleigh, North Carolina native was a second-team All-American in the women's 60 meters at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship, finishing in ninth place. Hart holds the top 10 times in the 60 meters in program history and five of the top 10 in the indoor 200 meters.
The Tusculum University Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Zaxby's, located at 3280 Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville. The Zaxby's Athlete of the Week Award honors one male and one female athlete each week from an in-season sport.
