GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University punter Stefaan Forbes and basketball center Ni'Kiah Chesterfield have been named the Zaxby's Athletes of the Week.
Forbes, a senior from Tulsa, Oklahoma, averaged 46 yards per punt including a career-long 70-yarder as Tusculum wrapped up its season at Catawba on Saturday. Forbes established a new TU single-season record with his 45.40 punting average, which is currently tops in NCAA Super Region and ranked third-best in the nation (NCAA II). He has recorded 13 punts covering 50-plus yards.
Chesterfield averaged 28.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game to lead the Pioneers to wins over North Greenville (92-75) and USC Aiken (95-78). Chesterfield scored a game-high 23 points and had eight rebounds and four blocked shots in the win over North Greenville, then in the victory over USC Aiken she made her first 13 shot attempts and finished 15-for-16 from the floor for a career-high 34 points to go along with seven boards.
The Murfreesboro, Tennessee native became the first Pioneer in nearly two years to score 30 points in a game, and her 15-for-16 shooting is the best in Division II this season and ranks second all-time in a game at Tusculum. She leads the South Atlantic Conference in scoring at 22.5 points per game (10th in Division II) and is second in the conference and 11th nationally in field-goal percentage at 69.2 percent.
