Five Pioneers named to CSC Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team

AUSTIN, Texas --- Five Tusculum University student-athletes have been named to the 2023 NCAA Division II Women's At-Large Academic All-District® 3 team as selected by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA).

Earning Academic All-District® Women's At-Large honors for the Pioneers are lacrosse players Tia Daniel and Emma Miller, bowler Allison Robbins and the beach volleyball duo of Katie McLamb and Charlyn Miller.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances for the following NCAA sports: beach volleyball, bowling, rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo.

All five advance to the Women's At-Large Academic All-America® ballot with the winners being announced next month.

District 3 is comprised of colleges and universities representing the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, must be at least a sophomore and played in 50 percent of their team's games.

Daniel, a senior attacker from Langley, British Columbia, accounted for a 3.94 GPA as a criminal justice major. She is a two-time recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award and was selected to the IWLCA Academic Honor Squad in 2022.

The two-time All-Conference honoree established a new program single-season record this season with her 86 points as she posted 58 goals and 28 assists in her 16 games. She scored at least one goal in every contest this year including three 7-goal performances. She also had four games where she posted nine points and was named the team's most valuable player.

Daniel's 86 points were tied for the conference lead in the regular season while her 3.62 goals per game were second-best in the SAC. Daniel also ranked fourth in the conference with a team-high 79 draw controls.

For her career, Daniel ranked second in program history in goals (149), assists (51) and points (200), along with free-position goals (37) and shots on goal (248). Daniel is third in career draw controls with 159 and tied for third in career game-winning goals with five. She recorded at least one point in 44 of her 45 career games, including 40 consecutive to end her career.

Miller, a sophomore midfielder from Maryville, Tennessee, has a 3.80 GPA and is majoring in special education. She is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.

Miller started in all 16 games for the Pioneers where she posted a dozen points on seven goals and five assists to go along with 13 ground balls.

In her five events, she posted three top-25 performances including the individual title at the ISTAP Hornet Classic becoming the first player in program history to claim a tournament crown. She rolled a five-game series total of 975 including a 235 game against Alabama A&M. She was named Conference Carolinas Bowler of the Week on two occasions.
