GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum linebacker Ryan Dolce and right-side hitter Peyton Gash have been named the Zaxby's Athletes of the Week.
Dolce, a graduate student from Union, New Jersey, recorded a pair of interceptions to lead the TU football team to a 49-14 South Atlantic Conference win over Erskine. He finished the game with four total tackles including one for loss to go along with three passes defended.
His two interceptions are tied for the most in TU single-game as the Pioneer defense limited the Flying Fleet to 202 yards including 22 yards in the second half. Tusculum is 8-1 for the first time in school history as the Pioneers have won six consecutive games.
Gash, a junior from Lexington, Kentucky, averaged 2.64 kills per set while posting a .313 attack percentage as the Tusculum women's volleyball team went a perfect 3-0 last week.
She tallied nine kills and a .292 hitting percentage in a four-set win at Lincoln Memorial. She followed with nine kills in a 3-1 victory over Emory & Henry before notching 11 kills on 16 attacks with two errors for a .563 attack percentage in a 3-0 sweep over UVA Wise on Senior Day.
She is averaging 2.34 kills and 0.48 blocks per set while hitting .231 on the season.
The Tusculum University Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Zaxby's, located at 3280 Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville. The Zaxby's Athlete of the Week Award honors one male and one female athlete each week from an in-season sport.
