HARROGATE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis team opened its 2022 fall schedule with competition at the two-day Lincoln Memorial University Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Playing in a series of "hidden dual" matches against five different opponents, the Pioneers went 9-5 in singles and 2-4 in doubles during the event. Seven different players saw action in singles along with four different doubles pairings.
Valentina Loretz led the Pioneers with three singles victories in as many matches, dropping a total of five games in the three wins. Paulina Loretz was 2-0 in singles and Ylva Frafjord Landa had a 2-1 record in singles play for Tusculum. Also picking up wins in singles were Leonie Floeth and Johanna Palacio, each coming in straight sets.
In doubles, Tusculum received victories from Floeth and Landa along with the team of Palacio and Valentina Loretz.
The Pioneers will prepare for the ITA Southeast Regional at Sumter, South Carolina which will be held from September 24-27 at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
