--- Tusculum College won seven matches without dropping a
game en route to an 8-1 win over Limestone College in
non-conference Women's tennis action Tuesday morning. The Pioneers
improved to 6-3 this season while the Saints remained winless at
0-11.
In doubles play, the Pioneers won all three pro sets without losing
a single game. At flight one, Taylor Patterson and Courtney Conley
led Jimena Munoz Quiroga and Eve Aubry 1-0 when the Limestone duo
retired, giving the Pioneers the point. At flight two, Katie Hillis
and Kristen Keefer swept Krystal Barker and Nicole Jones 8-0, as
did Blake Thompson and Megan Buckmaster at flight three over Haley
Case and Bea Nicholas.
In singles, Patterson won at flight two as Aubry retired in the
second set despite holding a 7-6, 2-3 lead. Tusculum won flights
three through six by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores, as Buckmaster
defeated Barker at flight three, Keefer downed Case at flight four,
Thompson won over Jones at flight five, and Hillis shut out
Nicholas at flight six.
The lone point for Limestone came at flight one, where Quiroga used
a tiebreaker to claim a 4-6, 6-2, (10-5) win over Conley.
The Pioneers close out their Spring Break trip to Hilton Head with
a match against Bloomsburg Wednesday at 8 a.m.
