SALISBURY, N.C. --- Shelby Vasich scored twice in the first half to lead Catawba College to a 2-0 victory over Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action Saturday evening at the Frock Soccer Complex.

Vasich scored in the 16th and 45th minutes for the Indians (9-2-1, 5-1-1 SAC), who outshot the Pioneers (6-8-0, 2-5-0 SAC) by a 33-10 margin in the match to earn their fourth consecutive win. Catawba had a 12-2 edge in shots on goal, as Tusculum keeper Danielle Breen reached double figures in saves for the third straight match with 10.

Catawba had the first three shot attempts before Brooke Radcliffe put a shot on goal that was saved by Indians keeper Shelby Thompson in the eighth minute. Catawba then had six shots in a span of 6 1/2 minutes, culminating with Vasich's goal at 15:33 off an assist by Maddie Capel.

Vasich nearly extended the lead to 2-0 in the 20th minute but her shot rang off the goalpost. Breen had a save on Sarah Bissett in the 30th minute, but Vasich struck again with just 15 seconds left in the first half for a 2-0 Indians lead, assisted by Callie Hammond. Catawba finished the half with a 20-3 advantage in shots over Tusculum.

In the second half, the Pioneers were able to put a shot on goal by Jamila Thombs in the 47th minute, while Breen had a save on the Indians' Jovana Sanchez in the 48th minute. Vasich looked for her third goal in the 59th minute but was stopped by Breen, then had three more shots on goal in the 74th, 75th and 76th minutes that Breen saved.

Catawba finished the match with a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks over Tusculum, while each team was called for 13 fouls apiece.
